Privacy
Jusku works without an account. No ads, no analytics, and we don't sell personal information. Without an account, the texts and files you read stay on your device and are never sent to us.

When you visit
Your browser sends connection details: your IP address, the page requested, the time and browser details. We use them to deliver the site, fix problems and protect it from abuse. The same happens when the page fetches today's Daily passage from our server.
What your browser saves
Your browser keeps the texts you open or paste, where you stopped, your bookmarks, settings, reading counts, Daily results, a visit count and a local activity log, plus a copy of the site so it opens offline. All of it stays on your device until you delete it under Recent or clear this site's data in your browser. We can't see it, and it isn't used for advertising or tracking.
Accounts
An account is optional. If you create one, we store your email address, a sign-in key, and what syncs: your texts, where you stopped, bookmarks, settings, reading counts and Daily results. We use them only to sign you in and keep your devices in sync. Account data is stored on our server at Hetzner in Germany.
With encryption on for your account (shown under the person icon), what syncs is encrypted in your browser before it's sent, with a key that only your password (or your sync passphrase, if you sign in with Google) and your recovery key can unlock. We can't read it, and neither can anyone who gets hold of the server. If you forget your password and don't have your recovery key, nobody can get it back: a password reset then removes it from the account, and what's on your devices stays.
We email you a link to verify your address, and one to reset your password if you ask. These go through Resend, Inc., which sees your email address for that.
If you turn on two-step verification, we store the secret your authenticator app uses and your recovery codes in hashed form. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and an account ID, and we store the ID to recognise you; what Google records is covered by Google's privacy policy. For each signed-in device we keep its browser details and when it was last used, so you can see and sign out your devices.
A cookie keeps you signed in for 180 days from your last visit. It's only set when you sign in and isn't used for anything else.
To stop password guessing and flooding, sign-ins, sign-ups, sync requests and emails are counted against the email address and a hashed form of the IP address for up to an hour.
You can download your account data and delete the account at any time, under the person icon. Deleting removes everything stored with it from the server right away; our nightly backup copies keep it for up to 7 days. Signing out keeps your texts on the device.
Sharing a Daily result
Share copies your result to the clipboard or hands it to an app you pick. Nothing is sent to us.
Emails
If you email us, we use your address, your message and any attachments to answer you.
Service providers and retention
We use Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany (account server and backups), Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting, delivery, security and email forwarding), Resend, Inc. (verification and password reset emails) and Google (email mailbox, and sign-in if you choose it). They process only what their service needs.
Cloudflare, Resend and Google are based in the United States, so information may be transferred there, under their certification in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Account data is kept until you delete your account, plus up to 7 days in backups. Technical records are kept as long as troubleshooting and security need them. Emails are kept as long as your enquiry and follow-up need them. Legal obligations or disputes can require longer.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restricted processing or a portable copy of your information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests because of your particular situation. Send requests to contact@jusku.app; we may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
Legal basis: providing the account you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in running a secure website and answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Saving your texts and settings in your browser and the sign-in cookie are needed for the features you use (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).
